Outcome of Friendship

We came from different places, as well as different times,
And our present lifestyles vary more than just a mite;
Being of the opposite sex makes us look from the other side,
While our theologies can be compared to day and night.

Yet despite the existing handicap of our known diversity,
We have found ourselves common ground on which we can build;
For what we have discovered is not about worldly things,
But of something that makes for far greater needs to be filled.

We've gone from acquaintances to that of close and dear,
Where the measure of our friendship encompasses so much more;
And because the heart is a timeless, boundless domain,
Each day the love I hold for you does surpass the one before.
