Indian Prayer

O Great Spirit, how great you are,
Your words are heard on the breeze;
Your majesty is seen in the mountains,
Your vastness like that of the seas.

You guide us by Your mighty hand,
Your tears cleanse the great plains;
Your beasts provide the day's food,
Your fields offer up needed grains.

Be forgetful of our uncivilizied ways,
When we dishonor ourselves before You;
And give us the courage to do likewise,
If our brother's word to us are untrue.

Let us look to You for our direction,
Guide us away from all the upheaval;
Help us stay on the good hunting path,
Make us deaf to all the spirits of evil.
